AdvisorSmith released its newest report on the “Safest Cities in New York.” From the site’s research, it was discovered that Youngstown, New York, is the #23 safest small city in New York.
The study analyzed violent and property crimes from 20 large cities, 119 midsize cities, and 234 small cities in the state. Crime scores were calculated for each city and the cities were ranked to find the safest places in New York.
The site discovered that:

Youngstown’s crime score was 6.3, which was much lower than the statewide average of 24 for small cities.

Youngstown’s violent crime rate was 0 per 1000 residents, compared with an average of 6.7 per 1000 across all small cities.

The city’s property crime rate was 6.3 per 1000 residents. Statewide, the average property crime rate in small cities was 11.4 per 1000.
