This Saturday, April 7th from 5-7 pm Project Green Space will be having a talent show and fundraiser at The 755 Restaurant in the City Market Plaza.
There is a suggested donation of $15 for an evening of great entertainment and delicious food for a worthy cause. Please come out and support this great program that beautifies a vacant city lot while employing local youth and teaching them important skills. The youth advocates and Director Charles Harris will be on hand to talk all about their past successes and their plans for the year.
Director Harris had the following message to members of the community.
“Project Green Space will rehabilitate an empty lot and work with impoverished communities to maintain a stable and healthy lifestyle,” said Director Harris. “In an attempt to revitalize neighborhoods, we will continue to work with many different organizations to tackle quality of life issues pertaining to food deserts in Niagara Falls.”
The youth advocates and Director Harris will be on hand to talk all about their past successes and their plans for the year.
“We will raise the awareness,” said Director Harris, “of community members surrounding food deserts and host seminars to teach healthy eating habits and different ways to form a stable community. This will include education on gardening, recycling, bring new life to empty lots, fields, street corners, and buildings. My project will not only bring food to our community, it will build community relations. Eventually, the project hopes to become self-sufficient by selling produce from the community garden to collect funds to reinvest in more neighborhood projects.”
If you are unable to attend but would still like to help, please make a donation at the IOBY site below, which doubles all funds collected through the site.
