North Tonawanda Christmas Lights Decorating Contest is Here Again

The North Tonawanda Mayor’s Office in conjunction with the City’s Department of Youth, Recreation and Parks reported today that entries are currently being accepted for the City’s DECORATE FOR THE HOLIDAYS CONTEST.  The contest is open to any North Tonawanda resident who decorates their home or business for the holiday season.

Entries will be judged on any of the 4 categories:

  1. Classical: Lighting is conventional and old fashion using wreaths, garland etc.
  2. Themed: Use of one idea throughout entire display or lighting concept
  3. Clark Griswold: Non-conventional methods of decorating; over the top displays
  4. Window or store front holiday theme displays for any NT Business.
  5. People’s Choice: Pictures of verified submissions will be placed online, and the general public will get to vote for the best overall house.

**Residents are encouraged to nominate other houses and businesses in the community for entry into the contest.  You are also able to nominate your own home or business.  Details are available online at

Judging will be conducted on Wednesday, December 11th 5pm -7pm by the Mayor’s Office. The prizes will be presented to the winner in each category during the awards ceremony at the Tuesday, December 17th at the Common Council meeting.  Online voting for the People’s Choice Award will take place from December 11-16th.  For more details head to
