Niagara Falls Police and Fire responded to the 600 block of 19th Street around 1805 hours on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021, after reports of an arson to a garbage tote.

According to police, a witness saw an individual wearing all dark clothing approach a garbage tote where they proceeded to pour gasoline into it and eventually lit it on fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

A small two-gallon gas container was located at the scene and it is believed that the container and gasoline were purchased at the Coastal Gas Station prior to the incident. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
