Niagara Falls kicks off Tourist Season with Another Homicide

On Monday, June 19, a 44-year-old man was gunned down in cold blood on 18th Street in the city. A person of interest, Juan Ubiles, is presently the subject of a manhunt in and around the city.

But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
But whenever Monday comes, you can find me cryin’ all of the time – John Phillips

On Monday, April 24, a 16-year-old teen was gunned down in cold blood on Ashland Avenue in the city.

These comprise the fifth and sixth homicides this year in the city of Niagara Falls, according to FBI statistics, the most violent city in all of New York State. This is because the city’s vaunted tourist industry is in the hands of a small minority of oligarchs who own and operate Niagara Falls State Park, reaping tens of millions of dollars a year in profits from food service and paid parking lots in the park, including Albany, Delaware North and Maid of the Mist, leaving tourists with no reason to visit or spend money in the city.

And that goes on not just on Mondays, but every day of the week, tourist season after tourist season, year after year.
