Lockport Police Department continues to actively investigate the tragic shooting death of Cheyenne Farewell of Medina, early Saturday morning at 43 South Niagara Street, Lockport, NY.

Farewell was attending a Halloween party with friends when gunfire came through a closed, metal garage door.  A total of six people were struck by bullets, five people were sent to the hospital and, sadly, Farewell died en route from her injuries. Farewell was attending Brockport State University and was a graduate of Medina High School.

Lockport Police lead the investigation with the assistance of the New York State Police, Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, Niagara Falls Police Department, Niagara County Violent Crimes Task Force, Niagara Intelligence and Crime Analyst Center, United States Marshals Service and the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office.

The police are looking for the community’s help to find the perpetrators of this senseless crime.  The Niagara Intelligence and Crime Analyst Center has set up a dedicated email for this case.  We ask that anyone with photographs, video footage or social media pertaining to this case please send it to nicacnf@gmail.com.  Any information could be helpful.

“We know that many young people attended the party and may be concerned about their parents finding out or are being discouraged from getting involved.  We need your courage to come forward with anything you may know.  This is a tragedy beyond words.  Cheyenne was an innocent victim and deserves justice, her family, her friends, her community deserve justice,” said Niagara County District Attorney Caroline A. Wojtaszek.

“We sincerely appreciate the public’s patience.  Building a case takes time, diligence and tremendous effort.  As most people can appreciate, law enforcement cannot always share details of the investigation with the public.  I can assure you that everyone is working day and night to hold those responsible for this senseless loss of precious life,” Wojtaszek stated.

“We are working diligently on this high priority case and making significant headway.  Please provide any information to our tip line at (716) 439-6707,” stated Lockport Police Chief Steve Abbott.
