Ironworkers Local 9 Niagara Falls, NY was established in 1902. Despite the areas ups and downs and slow growth economy they recently invested over 200k in there apprenticeship training program with a new steel structure training mock up and safety equipment. Business Manager Scott Brydges states “ we are investing in our apprentices to create safer, higher skilled, more productive Ironworkers to compete in todays tough market. There is definitely things moving forward in the city of Niagara Falls and we will be ready when it unravels!” The Ironworkers have a 4 year apprenticeship program with class room, and on the job training. At the union hall new recruits can tie rebar, and erect  steel buildings and do welding, just like on a job site. “This hands on training is a must, this is a very difficult, dangerous trade” says Brydges. Applications for apprenticeship are handed out the first Friday of each month at the union hall at 412 39th St, Niagara Falls. You must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, pass a drug test, and have a driver license. There is a physical and aptitude test also. www.ironworkers9.org
