On September 10, 2020, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a vehicle had struck a tree in front of 2993 Lockport Road in the Town of Wheatfield.

Preliminary investigation shows that a vehicle was traveling westbound on Lockport Road and for unknown reasons; the vehicle left the roadway on the north side and struck a tree.

Deputies and medical personnel provided immediate first aid to the male driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle. The driver was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

The accident scene is being investigated by the Niagara County Accident Investigation Unit. The name of the driver is being withheld at this time pending notification of the family.
