Two of the three pictures that were used by Expedia to illustrate why Niagara Falls NY is one of the top 16 honeymoon destinations in the USA. The top picture is a view of the Falls that can be seen only from Canada. The second picture is of their recommended viewing and dining experience – the Skylon Tower – in Canada. The third picture however is from the US side – showing the general view of Niagara Falls. Well one out of three ain’t bad.

Niagara Falls NY was selected by Expedia as one of the top 16 best honeymoon destinations in America!

Expedia.com rounded up what they claimed are their Top 16 based on a ranking system of 4 criteria that make these cities “very appealing to travelers”and ideal for newlyweds.

. The four criteria are:

  1. Adventures available
  2. Picture-perfect scenery
  3. Swoon-worthy vibes
  4. Affordability.

The results were announced on October 8, 2018 and published online at

According to Expedia, Niagara Falls NY scored well in all of the criteria, yet we were left scratching our heads after reading the story.

It’s true, Niagara Falls, NY scored 5 out of 5 for “picture-perfect scenery,” a 4 out of 5 for “adventure action,” and a 3 out of 5 for “swoon-worthy vibes”.

And it is true that Expedia is a leading travel company and the Expedia Viewfinder blog features lot of stories about places to travel or, as they write about themselves – “travel inspiration on destinations in the U.S. and across the globe… written by Expedia staff writers who are expert travelers themselves.”

How expert they are, you can judge for yourself.  Here is their write up as to why Niagara Falls, NY, is one of the top 16 honeymoon destinations:

“You’ll be pressed to find a place more majestic than Niagara Falls to celebrate your matrimony. Let the adventure begin aboard a Voyage to the Falls Boat Tour, where you’ll get so close to the American Falls, Bridal View Falls, and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls that you’ll feel the mist on your skin. For a different view of the mighty falls, reserve a table for two at the rotating Skylon Tower, 775 feet in the sky on the Canadian side, or pamper yourselves at the Christienne Fallsview Spa. Keep the revelries going—toast to your love along the Niagara Wine Trail or pack your passport and venture across the border.”

The fact is that three of the four attractions listed – Voyage to the Falls Boat Tour, Skylon Tower, and Christienne Fallsview Spa are all on the Canadian side.

Maybe their expert travel writer didn’t know that.
