Two people were transported to hospitals with minor injuries after the car they were riding in lost control and slammed into a tree on 15th Street near Michigan Avenue around 11:30 pm Saturday night.

Officers spotted the vehicle parked illegally in the 1600 block of 18th street sometime after 11 p.m. in what they view as a high crime area. The vehicle sped away when the driver noticed officers approaching them. The officer briefly engaged in a pursuit but terminated it after the felt it was a public safety concern. Shortly after, the vehicle being pursued crashed. The two occupants of the vehicle were extricated by Niagara Falls firefighters and transported to ECMC via AMR ambulance.

Donnell C. Parker, 38, of Grand Avenue, was later arrested and charged with multiple traffic violations. Police recovered baby formula, energy drinks, and Tide Pods from the vehicle which they believe may have been stolen. There may be additional charges.
