The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday, December 30th, 2020, that during a recent round of testing in the correctional facility 12 inmates tested positive for the coronavirus. All inmates that tested positive are doing well, currently asymptomatic and have been isolated.

To date, 156 inmates have been tested and the current inmate population is 284.

The Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with the Niagara County Health Department and medical providers to ensure all protocols are followed related to the recent positive cases.

“The safety of our staff, inmates in our facility and the general public have been at the forefront of every decision made regarding our operations. Minimizing the effects of COVID-19 remains a top priority for this office” said Sheriff Filicetti.
