The Rochester Police Department released body camera footage of an officer restraining and using an irritant on a 9-year-old girl during a family trouble call on Friday, January 29th, 2021.

Rochester Police maintain that at the request of her parent, the child was put in handcuffs and detained in the backseat of a patrol car.

While the minor was detained, police say she refused to listen to multiple commands by officers to put her feet inside the patrol car which prompted an officer to use an irritant on the minor.

“I want my dad! I want my dad! ” is repeatedly heard throughout the video. At one point, an officer says “you’re acting like a child,” and the girl responds “I am a child.”
