Leave the dogs at home! That’s what officials are saying for events in Tonawanda and North Tonawanda.

Going forward, officials say no dogs, with the exception of service dogs, will be allowed at Food Truck Thursdays and Canal Fest. They say the decision to make the ordinance came about after receiving a number of complaints from residents.

With the new regulation, City leaders are hoping to keep dogs off the pavement and main foot traffic areas. Dog control officers say they have no problem with dogs being on the grassy areas. It is hoped that with the new policy it will help to keep dogs safer and the events more enjoyable for all those who attend.
