BankOnBuffalo, which has achieved considerable growth since entering the Buffalo-Niagara market three years ago, was selected as a regional Banking Choice Awards winner in the same Community Contribution category featuring much larger and longer-tenured banks as additional winners.

BankOnBuffalo was selected as a Bronze Community Contribution winner in the Western Region for the Banking Choice Awards presented by American Business Media and Customer Experience Solutions LLC.

BankOnBuffalo, with nearly $420 million in deposits and 42 staff members, joined the winner’s circle with gold winner M&T Bank, $27.4 billion in total Western New York deposits reported last year and over 7,000 WNY employees, and silver winner KeyBank, $7.7 billion in total WNY deposits last year.

“We strive every day to be an active participant in the communities we currently serve – Buffalo, Orchard Park, Williamsville and Niagara Falls – and we are very proud to be recognized in our initial growth years for our efforts,” said Martin T. Griffith, BankOnBuffalo president.

Unlike typical “popularity contests,” the Banking Choice Awards are given based on interviews with thousands of banking customers in a double-blind format. No financial institutions are involved in collecting the data, which is then used to create Banking Benchmarks.

Of special significance was the rating in the Community Contribution category where BankOnBuffalo was selected as one of the Western Region’s winners. The rating there was provided by the prospects, or non-customers, of each bank.

Vincent M. Valvo, president and CEO of American Business Media, said, “Customers can choose to bank wherever they want. The Banking Choice Awards determine which banks do it best.”

BankOnBuffalo began as a start-up division of CNB Bank with a loan origination office and in February 2017 opened a full-service bank branch on the first floor of the Electric Tower in downtown Buffalo. Since then, BankOnBuffalo has opened full-service branches in Orchard Park, Williamsville and Wheatfield, and created a private banking and wealth management service called BankOnBuffalo Investment Advisors.

Primary banking services available include consumer and business deposit accounts, real estate, commercial, industrial, residential and consumer loans and lines of credit, treasury services, online banking, mobile banking, merchant credit card processing, remote deposit, and accounts receivable handling.

BankOnBuffalo recently opened its regional headquarters on the historic, renovated seventh floor of the Electric Tower in February 2019. It also is constructing a permanent branch in Niagara Falls and looking to establish another branch in the Town of Amherst in the future.
