Andrei Grati, R.N., has been awarded the 2015 Ruth and William O. Sass, M.D. Scholarship.

Named in honor of Dr. and Mrs. William O. Sass, the endowed scholarship, made to the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Foundation, was first awarded in 1998 to promote excellence in the field of nursing. Nearly $50,000 in assistance has been awarded to nursing students since its inception.

Applicants for this annual scholarship are required to be candidates for a baccalaureate degree in nursing and are evaluated on criteria such as academic achievement, community involvement and commitment, nursing career goals, personal and professional references and the availability of other resources.

Dr. Sass is a retired ophthalmologist who provided specialized eye and vision care to generations of Niagara Falls area residents and Memorial Medical Center patients.
