A Second Helping of Skrlin Artist Produces 'Mayor Sparky'

February 24, 2015

Mayor Sparky

This work proves that Skrlin possesses not only a rare cartoon talent but also a devastating ability to pierce the balloon of Paul Dyster's political pomposity time and again by picking up on the mayor's strange fixations. This time the fixation is Sparky the fire department mascot. The mayor's love for the imaginary dog is surpassed only by the mayor's man-love for the members of the city fire department. While those who slobber over professional athletes are derisively called "jock sniffers" the mayor is considered a "Scott air pack sniffer" as he embarrassingly prostrates at the feet of his firemen. So deep and enduring are Paul Dyster's feelings for "Sparky" that he literally rolled him out at his 2014 state of the city and brought him back for the 2015 state of the city as he recounted the sad tale of an abused cat. And so now Dyster has been hoist by his own hubris and childish behavior and is now known as "Mayor Sparky."
