On June 2, 2024, at approximately 2:08 pm, the Niagara Falls Police Department Crash Investigation Unit responded to the intersection of Hyde Park Blvd and Highland Avenue for a two-vehicle roll-over crash with entrapment.

A 2018 Jeep operated by a 45-year-old Niagara Falls man was traveling northeast on Highland Avenue when it allegedly passed the stop sign and struck a 2013 Hyundai that had the right of way traveling southeast on Hyde Park Blvd. The Hyundai hit the curbing and turned over, entrapping the 55-year-old female driver. Other motorists who witnessed the crash stopped, called for help, and rendered aid. The Niagara Falls Fire Department responded to free the woman from her vehicle. She was taken to ECMC for treatment of eye and head injuries. She was admitted to the Trauma Intensive Care Unit in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where he was evaluated and released. He will face a charge of Driving While Intoxicated and additional charges as the investigation continues.
