The death of George Floyd in Minneapolis has sparked outrage across the United States. Protests have taken place in major cities across the country including New York City, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Louisville, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Washington D.C., and etc.

There have also been events held closer to home in Buffalo, Rochester, Niagara Falls, and Lockport. Tonight, an event was held at the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office where a small group of demonstrators gathered to voice their concerns over police brutality.

The group was met by Sheriff Michael Filicetti who handed out waters to the demonstrators. Sheriff Filicetti also took the time to listen to their concerns and provided thoughtful responses to each person.

This was the third peaceful demonstration in Niagara County since the death of George Floyd. Our community remains a model for the nation.
