Niagara County Legislator Tony Nemi today announced that the application deadlines for two upcoming civil service exams – for social service worker and correction officer — are fast approaching, and encouraged those who are interested to sign up now for the exam. The application deadline for both exams is October 23, 2020 and the respective tests will be given on December 5, 2020.
“These are very important positions within county government and a great opportunity for those looking for a career path,” said Nemi, who oversees civil service as Chairman of the county’s Administration Committee.
Niagara County Personnel Officer Malcolm Needler said the county is looking for a wide-ranging, diverse pool of candidates to take the exam.
“We have been reviewing job descriptions and qualifications to see how we can cast a wider net for job candidates,” said Needler. “I encourage people to review the job requirements and if they believe they qualify, get their application in to sign up for the test.”
Needler said requirements for social service worker range from 60 credit of college to two years of clerical experience. For the corrections officer position, candidates must be a high school graduate and pass a physical fitness test and a medical screening.
