DISTRICT ATTORNEY ISSUES STATEMENT ON
SENTENCING OF WILLIAM C. SHRUBSALL, AKA ETHAN MACLEOD
By: Staff Reporter
Niagara County District Attorney Caroline A. Wojtaszek announces that William C. Shrubsall, now legally known as Ethan MacLeod was sentenced in front of New York State Supreme Court Judge Richard C. Kloch on July 29, 2020 to an indeterminate period of incarceration of 2 to 6 years with the New York State Department of Corrections.
This sentence comes after the defendant pleaded guilty on January 30, 2020 to all counts of the indictment charging Bail Jumping in the First Degree, a class “D” felony, and Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a class “A” misdemeanor. At the time of his plea, the District Attorney asked for the maximum sentence allowable.
At today’s sentencing, District Attorney Wojtaszek again urged the Court to sentence the defendant to the maximum sentence under the plea, and further requested that this sentence run consecutively to the 2 1/3 – 7 year sentence he is currently serving for his conviction for Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.
Wojtaszek told the Court “the defendant is a manipulative and violent man and must stay in jail as long as possible. Our office will work with the Attorney General’s Office to ensure that they have everything they need to pursue Article 10 Civil Confinement post-release of this defendant.”
Telling the defendant that there were consequences to his actions, Judge Kloch agreed with the District Attorney’s request and sentenced the defendant under this indictment consecutively to the prison term he is currently serving.
