After nearly 20 years as mayor of Buffalo, Byron Brown is getting acquainted with his new environs, Western Regional Off-Track Betting at Batavia Downs.
In a bright and classy news conference in City Hall last week, Brown said he was looking forward to the next chapter of his life and thanked the people and his staff for their support during his years as the city’s leader.
The longest serving mayor in Buffalo’s history will now head WROTB, taking over for longtime President and CEO Henry Wojtaszek who officially leaves at the end of the year.
Brown will earn $295,000 in his new job and observers at the Batavia Downs Gaming facility are excited to have him coming to the facility which earns millions for Buffalo and Rochester and the 15 counties that make up the public benefit corporation that seems to set money records every month with the variety of entertainment being offered including gaming, concert, horse racing, and dining.
