The Lockport Police Department has confirmed that one person is dead and five others shot just before 12:30 this morning on Niagara Street. According to reports, all victims were attending a large Halloween party at a residence when the shooting occurred. The deceased has been identified as Cheyenne Farewell, of Medina, who died from her injuries at the scene.

Farewell was a graduate of Medina High School in 2018 and was currently studying at SUNY Brockport where she hoped to become an English teacher.

Within hours of her passing, Batavia Downs created a GoFundMe page to raise money for any costs and expenses.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cheyenne Farewell, who was senselessly taken away from this world on October 17th, 2020,” wrote Batavia Downs on the GoFundMe page. “We are devastated and there are no words to describe the pain and anguish her family and friends are experiencing right now. A student at Brockport College, she was a 2018 graduate of Medina High School, a member of the National Honor Society and was a member of the girls’ soccer team.”

Batavia Downs continued, stating, “She was an incredible daughter to her parents and a sister to her brother. As many of you know, Cheyenne was someone who has always been a great friend to those around her. And now, it is time to take care of her family.  Donations will go to her family to cover any costs. Anything will be of help. Thank you and please keep them all in your prayers.”
