Office of the Aging to Distribute Coupon Books for Seniors Farmers’ Market

Beginning on July 16, 2020, Office for the Aging will begin distributing Farmers’ Market Coupon Booklets at sites throughout Niagara County.  The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program, headed by the NYS Dept of Agriculture and Markets, provides coupons to all who meet age and income requirements.  Each booklet contains five coupons worth $4 each ($20 total) which can be used to buy fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables at participating farmers’ markets throughout New York State.

*Thursday, July 16th – We will have a table set up outside 111 Main Street, Lockport from 10 am till Noon

Rain date is Friday July 17th

*Thursday, July 23rd  – We will have a drive thru pickup at the Newfane Community Center, 2737 Main Stin    Newfane from 10 am till Noon.  Rain date is Friday July 24th

If you live in a Senior Housing Building, please check with your site manager and /or look for our flyer announcing when we will be in your location.  Additional distribution dates in Niagara Falls and North Tonawanda will be announced soon!

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Coupons are for income-eligible individuals 60 years of age and older.  You may receive one booklet per person in a household that qualifies.

** 2020 Income Guidelines **

Household of 1 = $1,968/month

Household of 2 = $2,658/month

Household of 3 = $3,349/month

Susan Christian, Office for the Aging’s Coordinator of the Program noted, “New this season! If you cannot come to a distribution site and you do not have someone as your Power of Attorney, you can provide a handwritten note naming another person (a proxy) to pick up a booklet on your behalf.  The note must be signed by the senior and presented by the proxy to the Office for the Aging staff at the distribution site.”

Please note that the Farmer’s Market Coupons are distributed on a first come, first served basis.  A waiting list will be established if necessary.
