North Tonawanda Mayor Pappas Releases ‘Week in Review’ on Friday, February 5th, 2021

The City of North Tonawanda has announced a new initiative to engage with residents which includes a weekly update from the Mayor’s Office. On Friday, February 5th, 2021, Mayor Arthur Pappas released the following update:

(1) The ice-skating rinks at Pine Woods Park are up and Running! There are two rinks this year. One for skating and the other for hockey. Thank you to the Parks and Recreation department for maintaining the rinks.

(2) We want to thank our City Engineer Chelsea Spahr for finalizing the lighting and bathrooms improvements in Pine Woods Park.

(3) SPoT Coffee on Webster Street is set to open on February 15th.

(4) The Mayor appointed Linda Krempa and Sara Yaro to the Cemetery Board and Jason Partsch to the Historic Preservation Committee.

(5) We still need appointments to the Waterfront Commission & the Assessment Board. For anyone interested, please send your letter of interest to the Mayor’s office.

(6) The Energy Benchmarking resolution was passed by the council on Tuesday. This is the final part of moving the city of North Tonawanda to a Clean Energy Community. This will allow the city more grant opportunities through NYSERDA. Thank you to Crimson Power and University of Buffalo Institute for working with the Council and the City Clerk’s office on this.

(6) Our newest firefighter Adam Brodfuehrer was sworn in this week and will be starting the firefighter academy. Congratulations Adam!
