On February 7th, 2020, the North Tonawanda Fire Department swore in two new recruit firefighters.
These recruits were then sent to the New York State Fire Academy in Montour Falls on February 23rd with an anticipated graduation date of May 21st.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all recruits were sent home after the third week of training. It was at that time both recruits began training through virtual learning until returning to the academy in July.
On Tuesday, July 28th, almost two months after their originally planned graduation, James Donner and Nicolas Vossler graduated and were pinned with their badges.
“We are proud of both young men and thank them for their decision to serve this community,” said Mayor Arthur Pappas.
Congratulations!!
