Chef driven food hall now accepting merchant applications
Mercado Development has announced plans to develop a “chef driven” food hall at the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, USA.
The food hall – which is called “HIP CITY” – is expected to be open for business in the spring of 2018. At 16,000 square-feet, the food hall has capacity to feature up to 24 merchants.
Dan Vecchies, president of Mercado Development, says the company plans to include a mix of local and regional chefs. Even a few celebrity chefs have shown interest in the concept. In addition to food merchants, the food hall will be anchored by a craft beer and spirits bar featuring up to 50 craft beers on tap, small batch bourbon, whiskeys and craft cocktails, and a menu featuring local flavors such as chicken wings and beef on weck.
The space will be located along Military Road, with floor to ceiling glass and patio-style seating around the building’s perimeter. There will also be an area dedicated to live entertainment, cooking classes, wine tastings, and more.
The food hall concept allows customers to order from their desired merchant(s), find their seat, and have their food and drinks delivered by one of the food hall servers. While Mercado Development has already signed several merchants, there is still space available for interested chefs and restaurants. Mercado Development will build out each of the merchant’s space, to include hoods, sinks, counters and LED menu boards, and will provide amenities which include a prep kitchen, storage, refrigeration, food hall servers, and marketing.
A food hall is the perfect platform for new and up and coming chefs to get into their own restaurant at a very affordable cost. Mercado Development will also entertain partnerships with chefs for certain food concepts.
