Tobacco Sellers Are Nation’s Leading Killers

An estimated 443,000 people die every year in America from tobacco smoking which translates to nearly one in five deaths in the United States are from tobacco smoking.

The World Health Organization estimates that tobacco smoking caused 100 million deaths in the 20th century. Each cigarette smoked shortens one's life by 11 minutes. Almost a sixth of the U.S. population smokes an average of 15 cigarettes per day.

Tobacco smoke contains at least 19 carcinogens that bind to DNA and cause genetic mutations. There are 4,000 toxins in cigarette smoke which poison the body, making one weaker and less healthy. An estimated 70% of smokers want to reduce the amount they smoke. Fifty percent try to quit every year.

Nicotine, a psychoactive drug which is not carcinogenic, makes a smoker addicted to smoking. Smokers smoke for the nicotine but die from the toxins in tobacco smoke. According to a study by the Centers for Disease Control, only 6% who try t are able to quit their poisonous habit on any given attempt.

Most quit through the acquisition of lung cancer or heart disease.

Since many of their long term customers die from their products every year the tobacco industry is dependent on attracting new smokers. New smokers are primarily teenagers since adults who escape the toxic habit are rarely stupid enough to start smoking as adults. The people who make and sell cigarettes are predators and enemies of mankind.

What kind of person would wish to make money selling a product known to destroy the health and lives of people?

The only difference between someone who sells cigarettes and Adolf Hitler, is that Hitler had a plan for worldwide domination and German ascendancy while cigarette sellers are merely interested in their own ascendancy and personal wealth.

Cigarette sellers are no better and have certainly killed more people than Hitler.

The Niagara Falls Reporter does not endorse making cigarettes illegal and recognizes that nobody is forced to smoke cigarettes.
