Maziarz Aide to Lead Civil War Event in Medina

Relive the Civil War, without the bloodshed, in Medina, NY, April 26-28.

"I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong." ~ Abraham Lincoln 24
"The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving on." ~ General Ulysses S. Grant
“A true man of honor feels
humbled himself when he cannot help humbling others.”
~ General Robert E. Lee
"Courage - a perfect sensibility of the measure of danger, and a mental willingness to endure it." ~ General William Tecumseh Sherman.

Adam Tabelski, an aide to State Sen. George Maziarz, will be the Honorary Chairman of the Civil War Encampment to be held April 26-28 at the Medina Campus Center of Genesee Community College.

Tabelski, 33, is communications director for Maziarz. He is also a member of the National Guard and returned in December from a nine-month deployment to Kuwait where his unit provided security at Camp Patriot, a U.S. Naval Base.

Before he left, he stepped down as mayor of Medina, a position he'd held since 2008. Tabelski is a past president of the Medina Historical Society and this spring will earn a Master's Degree in Public History from SUNY Albany.

"The Civil War has been a centerpiece of my interest in history over the years," Tabelski said. The three-day encampment will feature authentic soldier costumes, Union and Confederate camps, a Saturday morning parade through downtown Medina, and other events throughout the weekend.
