Artist Pays Homage to Dead Insects at 464 Gallery

Buffalo, NY – 464 Gallery presents 'Dust,' an exhibition organized by local artist Alicia Malik on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 6-11 pm. Malik paints pictures of insects that have died in windowsills. "With this series of paintings, my desire is to capture and render a moment of contemplative silence," said Malik. "Through painting small bugs in expansive, non-descript space, the viewer questions not only the significance of insect life but also the universal mortality of all things." The paintings are intended to help the viewer become the bug and "become engulfed in the grunge and density of the painting."
