UB OrthoCare to open at Summit Healthplex

People needing emergency care for orthopedic and sports injuries now have better access to specialized care as UB OrthoCare has opened its first Niagara County center in the Summit Healthplex.

A collaboration between UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, UB OrthoCare was established specifically for the treatment of muscle, bone and joint injuries within 72 hours of when those injuries occur. Concussion diagnosis and treatment also are available as are bracing, casting and therapeutic injections.

“We will evaluate and treat patients faster than emergency rooms or other urgent care facilities that treat all other medical issues,” said Memorial Sports Medicine Director Tony Surace, M.Ed., A.T.C.

“Orthopedic and sports injuries don’t happen only during bankers’ hours and it’s important to get immediate, specialized care when they occur. Our goal is to make qualified orthopedic specialists readily available when patients who have suffered injuries need it most,” he added.

UB OrthoCare is open Monday-Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. in Suite 600 of the Summit Healthplex, 6934 Williams Road, Wheatfield.

In a related move, Memorial has extended the hours of operation for walk-in X-ray service at Summit Healthplex to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Although appointments are encouraged at UB OrthoCare they are not required. For information or to schedule an appointment, call (716) 204-3200.
