Biggest Loser TV Star To Attend Benefit for Dawn Daigler

Cate Laughlin rose to fame on the Biggest Loser. She will appear at a fund raiser in North Tonawnada to help her injured friend Dawn Daigler.

Biggest Loser star Cate Laughlin will attend a benefit planned for Saturday at St. Johnsburg Fire Co., 7165 Ward Road, North Tonawanda, from 2 to 9 p. m. for Dawn Daigler.

Dawn had an accident in May of 2012 which left her with a long term spinal cord injury. Due to her injuries she needs around the clock care and her medical insurance has run out making it impossible to attain the therapy she needs.

She is currently being moved to a long-term care facility at ECMC.
All proceeds from the benefit will go towards her long term medical care expenses.

Dawn, age 37, enjoyed line dancing and loves listening to country music and going to concerts. She is a resident in the Town of Wheatfield and she graduated from Niagara Wheatfield in 1993, attended NCCC and is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Dawn may not walk again but clings to the hope for small movement to her extremities.

Admission is $5 at the door and kids 5 and under are free. There will be a clown that will be doing face painting. There will be Krolick’s Chicken BBQ dinners on sale for $9 starting at 4. Pizza, baked goods, coffee and soda will also be available for purchase along with $2 draft beer.

The event will include a basket auction with over 200 baskets donated by various businesses and friends and a silent auction with items valued over $100.

There will be live bands for entertainment featuring Common Ground and CT Scan.

Special guest Cate Laughlin from season 14 of The Biggest Loser TV show, who will be joining to celebrate and support Dawn, will be signing autographs and will be available to answer health and fitness questions.

There will be a 50/50 split and for a $1 donation a chance to win a 46” Sanyo LCD TV. The event is being sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans along with friends and family of Dawn.

If anyone is interested in pre-sale tickets or making a basket, baked goods or monetary donation, please call Pam Boudreau, benefit chairman, at 716-946-8760 or email Pam at: pamboudreau33@yahoo.com. The event has a Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/foranewdawn.
