Annual Event Fights Hunger... One Step At A Time!

You can help the Community Missions of Niagara this Saturday.

Community Missions of Niagara Frontier, Inc., will host its 11th Annual Feet or Famine Walk on Saturday (April 27) at Whirlpool State Park. Registration begins at10:30 a. m. with the walk along the beautiful top of the gorge to commence shortly after at 11:15 a. m.

Walkers are asked to collect pledges and donations from family and friends in support of their participation in the walk in order to raise money for the Missions' Crisis Services Programs.

These programs include the soup kitchen, food pantry, clothes closet, parole re-entry program, Mark's Place (HIV/AIDS residence), and homeless shelter.

Between 100 and 200 walkers are expected to attend the event, and pets on leashes are welcome. The event will include a Classic Car Show, 50/50 raffle, prizes, and a light picnic lunch.

In 2012, Community Missions served over 70,000 meals, provided crisis housing to over 600 individuals, and provided over 9,000 nights of care to neglected or abused children and homeless adults.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. Current sponsors and supporters include GEICO and LocalEdge, Maid of the Mist, Olympia Sports, Tops, Wendy's, and Nutrilite.

Since its founding in 1925, Community Missions has provided referral, crisis, community support, and residential services for youth and adults, offered in cooperation with churches, groups, clubs, other providers, and government agencies.
