There will be a fundraiser on Saturday, May 11, at the Town of Niagara Active Hose Fire Co. at 6010 Lockport Rd. in Niagara Falls to benefit Michael Pierce, a husband and father who has been recently diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and has been unable to work because of his illness.

All of the money raised will go towards Michael’s medical care, safety equipment, and to provide financial assistance according to his mother, Patricia Finley.

“Michael has worked his whole life and no longer can work due to his disability,” said his mother.  “As a result his business, P &K Hardwood Floor Restoration is suffering.”

Anyone who wishes to support the event is invited by the Pierce family to contact Patricia Finley at 716-298-5863 or at pfinley123@live.com. to arrange to volunteer time, donate a basket, or make a monetary contribution to help this young man in his time of need.

The fundraiser will begin at noon and pre-sale tickets for beer and food for $25 can be arranged by contacting Patricia Finley by phone or at the website.  There will also be a unique basket sale and a 50/50 prize at the door with the drawings for the baskets beginning at 5 p. m.

The Town of Niagara Lions Club has committed to serve their famous cheesburgers and hot dogs with salad and beverage for $8.  The $25 ticket covers food and drink all day and the food will include homemade baked goods.

Pat Finley said her son has remained positive despite his illness and she is hoping for a strong turnout on Saturday, May 11, to let Michael know that people are with him during these difficult times.
