Why I Voted for Ice Pavilion Renovation - But Paid For With Casino Cash

In the interest of harmony and seeing the project move forward, I voted in favor of the amended resolution to bond $3.1 million to repair the Hyde Park Ice Pavilion - now amended - to use casino cash - instead of taxpayer's cash to pay the bond.

Of course the project should have been pre-planned. The use of casino money should have been pre-budgeted yearly so that the completion of this project would never have been imperiled.

With that said, I wholeheartedly support our most excellent local attraction, the Ice Pavilion, its energetic and enthusiastic operator, Gene Carella, and this worthwhile city renovation project of it - that will make the Ice Pavilion operational all year long - even in summer - and will ensure that ice skaters and hockey players from far and wide will use it for years to come.

Lastly, I support, endorse, am enthused by our children and our neighbors - boys, girls, young and middle aged, men and women out on their skates - enjoying something Niagara Falls has to offer.

If that is not good use of casino cash I don't know what is.
