We, The Taxpayers, Must Get Out and Vote for GLENN CHOOLOKIAN for Mayor on September 10th OR Suffer Four More Years of Mayor Dyster’s Out of Control Spending & Continuous Tax Increases

Committee to Stop the Reassessments & Continuous Tax Increases

August 25, 2015

Vote for Glenn Choolokian come rain or shine, he loves this city and stands up for the people in it!

Mayor Paul A. Dyster wants us, the taxpayers, to vote for him again so that he can be the mayor of Niagara Falls for another four years even though he has shown repeatedly during the past eight years that he has total disregard for the taxpayers.

He wants us to vote for him again even though he has a long history of ignoring our pleas to stop spending our tax dollars, our casino dollars and our bed tax dollars year after year after year on unnecessary items while increasing our taxes every year to pay for his irresponsible and out of control spending.

He wants us to vote for him again even though he substantially reduced our garbage pick-up service and made it extremely difficult for taxpayers in one of the highest taxed cities in the nation to dispose of our garbage. In addition, this reduction in services was done in a shroud of secrecy and comes complete with hiring three employees to hand out expensive fines and yearly costs to taxpayers that are higher than the original garbage pick-up service that we had. This was a very bad deal for the taxpayers, a very bad deal that should have never happened along with several other bad deals that have happened over the past eight years in a shroud of secrecy.

He wants us to vote for him again so he can continue to waste our money on subsidizing outside agencies that the taxpayers cannot afford to subsidize including restarting payments to USA Niagara Development in the amount of $1.5 million despite the fact that the taxpayers demanded that the mayor stop doing that in 2012.

On top of that there is: $4 million for the annual governor’s economic development contest; $2.1 million on garbage and recycling totes; $373,581 to NFC; $500,000 to Isaiah 61; $225,000 to Holiday Market; $40,000 for the Blues Festival which the taxpayers also demanded that the mayor stop doing in 2012; $45 million on a train station that we didn’t need, could not afford to build and can’t afford to maintain; millions of dollars in consultant fees; hundreds of thousands of dollars in salary increases for appointed positions; raises for exempt employees; $700,000+ on concerts for Hard Rock Café, etc.!

He wants us to vote for him again even though he burned through almost $200 million of our casino revenue, created a $7+ million deficit, already issued a dire warning for the 2016 budget, and has brought our City to the verge of insolvency.

Mayor Dyster promised us eight years ago that if we voted for him we would be getting the best and the brightest that there was.

We were fooled and we must not be fooled again.

We, the taxpayers, must vote for Councilman Glenn Choolokian for Mayor in order to put a stop to out of control spending and continuous tax increases. We need to vote for a mayoral candidate who respects the taxpayers, takes our concerns seriously and has our best interests at heart, and Councilman Choolokian has done just that. He understands the dire financial condition that this city is in and consistently votes against Mayor Dyster’s yearly tax increases and irresponsible and out of control spending.

Councilman Glenn Choolokian has provided us with an accomplished mayoral candidate to vote for who is not only knowledgeable, experienced and respected by his peers, but is also a very kind and humble man.

Councilman Choolokian realizes that our elected officials must stop using tax increases as a means to balance the budget and most recently worked very hard to release his own 2015 budget that would have eliminated Mayor Dyster’s tax increase and restore jobs. He proposed cutting $3.1 million from the mayor’s spending and yes, he proposed using $1.9 million of OUR casino dollars to avoid a tax increase. Mayor Dyster’s response to using OUR casino dollars to avoid a huge tax increase was that he would refer it to the law department since casino cash is supposed to be used for economic development.

However, Mayor Dyster has been using large amounts of casino cash for items not considered economic development for years. Unfortunately, for us, and in a blatant display of disrespect for the taxpayers, the council majority, which consists of City Council members Kristen Grandinetti, Andrew Touma and Charles Walker, would not accept Councilman Choolokian’s budget recommendations and voted for a tax increase anyway. Although it would have been a much higher increase had it not been for Councilman Choolokian, there should not have been a tax increase at all had they accepted his budget recommendations in full. Councilman Choolokian did the right thing for the over taxed residents and business owners of Niagara Falls, and we cannot take that kind of intelligence and support for granted.

We, the over taxed residents and business owners of Niagara Falls, cannot afford to have our money mismanaged by Mayor Dyster for one more minute let alone four more years. This is why it is imperative that we all get out and vote for Glenn Choolokian for Mayor on Primary Day, Thursday, September 10, 2015!
