Cecconi to Run for Lewiston Town Clerk

Regina Scibilia Cecconi has announced she will run for town clerk in Lewiston in November's election.

Cecconi is a Republican and is expected to run in a primary against the present town clerk Donna Garfinkel, who was appointed this year after longtime clerk Carol Brandon retired in December.

Because Brandon resigned before completing her full term, a special election for the remaining year of Brandon's original term will be held this year.

There will be another election in 2015 for the full four year term.

While Garfinkel, a long time assistant to Brandon, has not yet announced, it is expected she will soon and consequently Cecconi will square off with Garfinkel in the Republican primary.

No Democratic candidates have announced for the $47,000 per year position.

Cecconi, a mother to two, is a certified Human Resource professional, a graduate of Niagara University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, and completed her Masters Certificate in Human Resource Management through Villanova University.

She said she wants to improve the Lewiston Town Clerk website by enhancing web and online services in order to save taxpayers time and "unnecessary frustration."

She said she plans to extend office hours on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings and pursue new revenue opportunities.

"These additional hours will give our taxpayers better accessibility to conduct their town business, Cecconi said. "I have also been researching additional services which the Town Clerks office could provide while initiating new revenue opportunities. All these initiatives combined will result in an overall improved customer experience."
