Chain Links Teens United, a non-profit organization featuring teenagers providing education related to the abuse and effects of prescription and OTC drug abuse will hold its kickoff program on Monday (Oct. 21) at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Dr., from 6:45 p. m. to 8 p. m. in the library’s meeting room.

The guest speaker for the first session will be Jake Simmons, the Buffalo State College basketball star who broke legendary NBA star Randy Smith’s 41-year career scoring record at Buffalo State last year, finishing his incredible college career with 2,079 points.

Simmons holds many other records, including most three-point field goals (321) and steals (213). He was named a 2013 SUNYAC First Team All-Conference member.

The hoop star is now hoping to take his game to the NBA, and recently was in Atlanta for a tryout with the D-League team of the Atlanta Hawks.

Light refreshments will be served for the group’s first program. You can find out more by visiting their website at www.clteensunited.net.
