Buffalo Humane Started as Dog Rescue

While Buffalo Humane’s work for cats has skyrocketed in the past year, the group started as a foster-based dog rescue organization back in 2006. They continue to rescue dogs, almost exclusively from high kill shelters. As it has no shelter facility for dogs, the group relies on its foster home network for its dogs.

"We wish we could do more to help even more dogs," said Jill Domagala, who is intake and foster coordinator. "But we take some very challenging cases that take some time to treat and rehabilitate. We are also limited by our foster home capacity."

Buffalo Humane operates on a 100 percent volunteer basis, its activities funded exclusively through fundraising, contributions, and donations.
