Thieves Wear Hooded Sweatshirts

By Mike Hudson

Black males wearing hooded sweatshirts figured in numerous crimes over the past two weeks, according to police reports. Burglaries, robberies, criminal mischief and assaults with fists, guns and knives were all attributed by witnesses to suspects matching that general description.

One of the scarier incidents took place in the 2700 block of Niagara Street around 7:30 p.m. one night recently. The victim told cops he was confronted by four black males wearing hooded sweatshirts and demanding money.

He fought them, and was hit on the head with a pistol before the suspects fled the scene.

In an unrelated incident, two black males wearing hooded sweatshirts robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint in the 1900 block of Falls Street and, in yet another possibly unrelated incident, witnesses said two black males wearing hooded sweatshirts burglarized a house in the 2400 block of Grand Avenue.

And over in the 900 block of Grove Avenue, one of two black males wearing hoodies shot a guy in the leg with a BB pistol during a botched robbery attempt. The guy was treated and released at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for the wound.

There were a number of other possibly unrelated incidents involving black hoodie-wearing males, but you get the point.

The hooded sweatshirts involved in all of the incidents were said to be red or grey in color.

Beware.
